There’s no other way to say it. I was rock bottom drained. Between all of the life stuff I had going on plus working I was in desperate need of a break. And in the week I had off, I learned a lot.
I learned that six years is too long in between vacations. Yep – six years without more than a few days off. I would say it was well earned, but there was still a HUGE part of me that felt guilty for leaving work behind for a few days.
I learned that it was OK to feel guilty for taking some time off, but NOT okay to dwell. The first day of the trip I felt like I was letting by business down for taking some time off. Why was I feeling this way? I’m chalking it up to anxiety and 11 years of working hard for my business. BUT I needed the break, and when I returned everything was right where I left it.
I learned that the half a day I took to plan out social media posts and preparing clients for my trip was well worth it. Using Tailwind, I was able to schedule out my Instagram and Facebook posts while I was away so I wouldn’t be stressed about keeping up with my accounts. What a relief that was. I was able to get six days scheduled with multiple posts a way without having to stress about remembering to post.
And finally I learned that a well needed break brings you back refreshed and ready to buckle down and hustle. It won’t be six years again until I take another vacation – I hope!
